Form, color, and light have
fascinated me since childhood. In the third grade, my crayon drawings
of homes and grounds were displayed on the hall bulletin board for most
of the year. My teachers in elementary school enjoyed my drawings and
encouraged me to continue. I was happy to take their advice. In the 1980’s, I was part of a group of watercolor artists that met in Crestline Village in Mountain Brook. We studied watercolor concepts that Donny Finley used in his paintings. This was a special time for all of us. I use many of the techniques that we encountered while observing . I have not been able to paint as much as I would have liked, due to my chosen profession in pharmacy. As I approach a time of less work load, I intend to concentrate on my lifetime love of creating drawings and paintings. I am a member of the Birmingham Art Association as well as the Watercolor Society of Alabama. One of my paintings, “Treasures in the Sand”, has been included in the 2008 Watercolor Society of Alabama Members’ Showcase. I have enjoyed being a part of many art shows and exhibitions over the last few years. Thank you for viewing this collection. I hope it stirs your interest in Art. --Carroll Andrews |
