Transparent
Watercolor is my favorite medium for over 25 years. Mind
you, I did not have the time to paint continuously
during that time but have been fortunate to paint much
more in the past 10 years. It is still amazing and a joy
to me seeing the colors mingle freely when applied to
wet or damp paper or any other suitable surface. Most of
my paintings are done in a realistic/traditional style
but working on an abstracted or non-objective subject
matter is a must; it helps me not to get bored or
stagnant and lets me grow as an artist. A few years ago
I took a watercolor and collage workshop with Gerald
Brommer, that also kept me busy looking for textured
oriental papers to use with my watercolors. Mostly I do
not take a lot of workshops but the few that I have
taken – also a workshop given by Cheng-Khee Chee on
different types of watercolor techniques painted on
various surfaces and a pastel workshop on figures by
Margaret Dyer – have opened new doors for me. I am a
Signature Member of the Watercolor Society of Alabama, a
member of Experimental Artists of America (EAA), a
member of (HAL) Huntsville Art League where I exhibit
regularly, live and work in Huntsville, AL together with
my husband of many years and a dog; our Labrador loves
it when I spend time in my studio because it always is a
happy day for both of us.
