Transparent Watercolor is my favorite medium for over 25
years. Mind you, I did not have the time to paint
continuously during that time but have been fortunate to
paint much more in the past 10 years. It is still amazing
and a joy to me seeing the colors mingle freely when applied
to wet or damp paper or any other suitable surface. I
alternate between realistically rendered paintings and
abstracted/non- objective paintings; working on an
abstracted or non-objective subject matter is a must. It
helps me not to get bored or stagnant and lets me grow as an
artist. Also have painted on Yupo (synthetic paper) in the
past years and enjoy it tremendously, as well as painting
with acrylic paints on paper and/or canvas.
I am a Signature Member of the Watercolor Society of
Alabama (WSA) and since 2009 have been the membership chair
of WSA. I am also an Associate Member of the American
Watercolor Society (AWS), an Associate Member of the Georgia
Watercolor Society (GWS), and an active member of (HAL)
Huntsville Art League where I exhibit regularly.
In the past I have received awards with yearly sponsored
exhibitions by HAL: Unique Views of Huntsville and
Collector’s Draw. I partake in the (HAL) Figure Drawing
Group each Monday whenever I can and I am a member of ‘The
Committee’, a group of 10 women who support each other in
art and exhibit together. Have exhibited at local art shows
such as Panoply, Monte Sano Art Show, and exhibited at the
Carnegie in Decatur as one of ‘The Committee’.
Most recently I joined the Dixie Girls Challenge, a group of
12 artists who are all local and we have started a blog
where we display monthly challenges.
