Margaret Arthur Pickett is a native of
Tennessee and a graduate of the University of
Tennessee~Knoxville. She has always been interested in art and
photography, travel and study, and nature in all of it's forms.
Bright color is her hallmark; she works in watermedia, collage
and monoprints. For many years she studied with nationally known
artists at the Grand Strand Watercolor Workshops in Myrtle Beach
, South Carolina. She is a Signature Member of the Southern
Watercolor Society, the Watercolor Society of Alabama, and
Experimental Artists of Alabama.
Maggie has been juried into other National Exhibitions: Red
River Watercolor Society in Fargo, North Dakota; Georgia
Watercolor Society and in their Travel Show; and a Biennial
Exhibition at the Wiregrass Museum of Art in Dothan, Alabama.
She has won many awards over the years, and often shared her
love of art by giving demos of various techniques to local
groups. Much of her work is semi abstract, using
transparent pigment and bright color, and often with repetition
of shapes, circles and triangles, and with texture.
