Peggy Montano  creates oil paintings in an impressionistic style.  She is inspired by the California Impressionistic artists who were active in the early twentieth century in America.

Peggy has studied with several teachers and continues to study locally and nationally but her methods are largely self-taught.  She likes to abstract the landscape or cityscape in color not trying to paint in a photo-realistic way.

Her paintings have been included in many juried shows and are part of private and corporate collections.

Peggy is a member of the Oil Painters of America, The American Impressionist Society, The Huntsville Art League and the Alabama Pastel Society.

Peggy's painting "The Red Umbrella" was recently juried into the latest online exhibition sponsored by www.artjury.com.  See the painting here on her website and read the critique from the AJAS staff.

This is the critique from artjury.com on acceptance of the "The Red Umbrella"

"The Red Umbrella:  Absolutely lovely in every technical & emotional way. Unexpected use of color that is fresh and original. The street begs to be found and investigated.  Accepted.

It is  signed:  All the Best,
                  The AJAS staff"
