Ms Stakey owns her own company designing artwork for homes in northern Alabama now Virginia.  As chief, she draws from her love of nature to create imaginative designs that gives her customers something that "are just for you".  Her vivid imagination and the ability to visually translate ideas, enhances the true beauty of nature reflected in her artwork.

Sandra's work comes from within then explodes out of the end of a brush, that is full of color and water ...Color of all that nature has to offer.  The universe is full of energy that needs to be tapped.  She takes the color and energy and arrange it into an exciting painting full of excitement. This energy gives her strength, which you find in the paintings she paints.  Painting is a joyful form of energy for her and her goals are to create works of art that will make others happy.

Her portrait work started after her husband, Col. James C. Starkey III, died of a cancer related disease. Sandra has donates a portion of all portrait sales, and other art work to cancer research.

Sandra is a member in the of Alabama Watercolor Society, Virginia Watercolor Society, Hampton Art League, Chesapeake Bay Watercolorists (CBW). Sandra was the 2006-7 President of the CBW, she is now there editor of the newsletter and CBW's website. She is one of five Managing Artist at the Pembroke 4 Art Gallery in Virginia Beach. Sandra was active in the Art League of Madison (President) and the Huntsville Art League. Her art has been exhibited in El Paso, Arizona, California, Texas, Alabama.
